Registration

It is advised that all delegates, presenters and students who plan to attend the conference register early. Persons who do not register prior to the conference are not guaranteed materials, refreshments or other amenities associated with the conference. You can register on this website, or mail a registration form. Field trip fees are not included in these registration rates.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations had to have been made in writing and received by 1 September 2002. Refunds, minus a $30 processing fee, will be made if notification was received by this date. No refunds or credits will be made on cancellation notices received after 1 September; however, a substitute may be designated at any time prior to the start of the conference.

Student Awards

Robert I. Larus Student Prize

The graduate student presenting the paper or poster judged best by a panel of scientists will win an all-expense-paid trip to the annual AAAS meeting in Denver, Colorado, 13-18 February 2003. Participants must be U.S. citizens and enrolled in a graduate program at a university within the region covered by the AAAS Arctic Division. The student must be first author and present his or her own work at the 2002 conference.

Sigma Xi Undergraduate Poster Award

The University of Alaska chapter of Sigma Xi will provide a $200 prize for the best poster presented by an undergraduate student. Students must be first author and present their own work. Abstracts deadline was 1 September.

 

Arctic Ocean, Bering Sea, and Gulf of Alaska interrelationships

The theme of the 53rd Arctic Science Conference is Connectivities and Interrelationships between Northern Ecosystems and Interactions at their Boundaries. The Plenary Session will focus on interdisciplinary analysis of the numerous connectivities that ultimately lead to improved regional and large-scale assessments of ecosystem stability and critical processes responsible for environmental change. Technical sessions will focus on scientific, socio-economic and policy issues in northern regions.
