The main activity of the Arctic Division is an annual meeting, which typically takes place in the Fall and is hosted by a sponsoring institution within the region. The conference has taken place every year since 1950. Recent themes have included climate, environmental change, natural resources, extreme events, and northern people and cultures. High school teachers and educators are involved in the annual meeting.

Other Arctic Division activities include sponsoring publications, workshops, and symposia that address scientific issues affecting the region, and a Web site intended to disseminate research news and information.
